Free Student Career Workshops

Build on your professional and personal skills through the Study Sunshine Coast Talent Essential Career Workshops. We will host a variety of free workshops throughout the semester for Sunshine Coast students to attend. The workshops will focus on developing either your professional or personal skills outside of a classroom and provide a safe space for you to network and engage with other students.

The Study Sunshine Coast Workshops are open to all students who are currently studying on the Sunshine Coast. Places are strictly limited so make sure you register early to secure your spot.

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network. Currently with over 575 million members, it ranks higher than most other social networks on Google. No other social media platform offers students the same potential for building their personal brand and connecting globally with prospective employers, mentors or influencers. Sally Dwyer at Be Social. Be Smart work with students to amplify their brand via LinkedIn and develop the skills to leverage the platform to build their digital presence and professional network.

The workshop will teach students how to use the LinkedIn platform to research, connect with and attract future employers. The facilitators have worked with employers internationally and bring a depth of knowledge and experience around how the platform is best used by students to achieve their study and career goals.

In this hands-on workshop you’ll discover how to present your life experience, study and part-time job skills in ways that appeal to potential employers. You’ll walk away with practical tips and tools on how to:

Study Sunshine Coast is delighted to offer current students studying on the Sunshine Coast the opportunity to attend this free online Setting Yourself Up for Employment Success workshop at USC, Sippy Downs Campus on Thursday 18th March from 4.30pm to 6pm.

In this interactive Zoom workshop you’ll discover how to present your life experience, study and part-time job skills in ways that appeal to potential employers. You’ll walk away with practical tips and tools on how to:

  • Back yourself with confidence
  • Dissolve self-doubt and ‘Imposter Syndrome’
  • Create an elevator pitch for your skills (before you have career outcomes)
  • Identify your unique leadership traits (and why employers love them)
  • Grow your business connections with authentic networking skills

The facilitator Bruce Williams from Easy Teams, specialises in leadership, communication and team dynamics and has been delivering professional development programs for over 40 years. He loves to help people understand how other people tick so they can work together with less stress and more “Yes!” He is an accomplished speaker and talented facilitator with an engaging and humorous presentation style.

In addition to delivering leadership training and coaching programs, Bruce is also Chair of Judges for the annual Sunshine Coast Business Awards, a part-time academic with the University of the Sunshine Coast, and a mentor for young entrepreneurs in The DeLorean Project and Generation Innovation.

The transition from study to career is an exciting opportunity filled with challenges, surprises and possibilities. In this interactive workshop you’ll discover how to navigate the workplace environment with a few simple strategies that will give you the best chance for success. You’ll walk away with practical tips and tools on how to:
  • Embrace personality differences
  • Convert conflict into positive communication
  • Negotiate with confidence
  • Give and receive feedback
  • Set goals and manage priorities
