Study Sunshine Coast is leading the way in student employability, launching free workshops and a scholarship program to give both international and domestic students a competitive edge when entering the workforce.
The five-workshop series will launch on 25 February at TAFE Queensland’s Mooloolaba Campus with a session focussed on career planning and resume and cover letter writing.
Further workshops will be held at the University of the Sunshine Coast and CQUniversity’s campus and will focus on job applications and leadership skills, understanding the Sunshine Coast and Australian work culture and the importance of LinkedIn and personal brand development. Places are limited so students are encouraged to register now to avoid missing out.
In addition, Study Sunshine Coast is poised to launch the Project Global Citizen Student Scholarship: an eight-week development program focused on advancing students’ cross-cultural skills to equip them with the tools they need to be employable in any global organisation around the world.
The scholarship is available for 30 Sunshine Coast students who wish to enhance their personal and professional development skills to work across cultures as global citizens.
Study Sunshine Coast Project Manager Marina Murray said the scholarships were available for both domestic and international students studying on the Sunshine Coast, and the region was the first in Queensland to offer the program.
“Project Global Citizen Program will help students develop cross-cultural skills to improve employability, no matter where in the world they want to work,” she said.
“Together with the free Employability Workshops, these programs will support our local students to better improve their leadership, negotiation and communication skills as they enter the workforce either during or post study.”
Applications for the Project Global Citizen Student Scholarship close 5pm on 26 February 2020. Students can learn more or apply at studysunshinecoast.com.au/projectgc.
